With the most recent dry conditions, Kochia is thriving in fields across western Canada. Kochia along with other weeds are becoming increasingly challenging to manage due to herbicide resistance. This presentation will discuss the value of soil active herbicides, and how they can be integrated into any weed management program.
About the Speaker
Graham oversees new product concepts and development for herbicides, fungicides, insecticides, seed treatments, biologicals, and technology concepts for broadacre, horticulture, and turf within Canada. Graham completed his B.Sc. in Agriculture in 2008, and his M.Sc. in Plant Science focused on developing sustainable agronomic management practices for triticale, in 2012 at the University of Alberta. He is currently completing his Ph.D. in Agronomy at the University of Alberta concentrating on developing a growing system for ultra-early planted spring wheat. Graham and his wife Erin farm near Alliance, Alberta.

Announced in 2020, preliminary work has begun on the Westside portion of the Lake Diefenbaker Irrigation Projects. The presentation will focus on the project background, the status of the work, and the economics of the project.
About the Speakers
Clinton Molde is the Executive Director, Irrigation Development for the Water Security Agency. Clinton has over 30 years of experience with the Water Security Agency and predecessor organizations in the engineering, management, and licensing of water projects within Saskatchewan.
Dwayne Gelowitz is a Senior Principal with Clifton and the Project Director of the Prime Consultant Team. Dwayne has over 30 years of experience in a broad range of civil and water projects all completed within Saskatchewan.

The Resistant Wild Oat Action committee of the Canadian Weed Science Society talks to farmers in the Prairie Provinces about wild oat resistance and their approaches to management. These discussions are presented in this 15-minute video. The Resistant Wild Oat Action Committee of the Canadian Weed Science Society (CWSS) was formed to develop extension material on herbicide-resistant wild oats and their management. The CWSS is the Canadian scientific authority representing professionals working in weed science. Their goal is to deliver a world-class annual meeting, providing networking, recruitment opportunities, and scientific enrichment to all professionals and aspiring professionals working in week science.

Supply chains are used for the production, distribution, and delivery of commodities. Supply chain management seeks opportunities to improve the efficiency and value creation of activities required to transport products, store inventory, and satisfy customer demand. Within the agriculture industry, effective and efficient supply chains are critically important. The COVID pandemic has certainly demonstrated the global impact generated when product demand exceeds supply, or when transportation availability is curtailed. This presentation focuses on the global, national and provincial importance of agriculture supply chain management. Practical insights are provided to enhance appreciation for the prominent role that agriculture producers play in supply chains.
About the Speaker
Born and raised in Melfort, Sask., Dr. Keith Willoughby is the Dean of the Edwards School of Business and a Professor in the Department of Finance and Management Science. He teaches courses in supply chain management, quantitative methods, and business analytics. His research interests include logistics, public transportation systems, sports analytics, and health care process improvement.

About The Speaker
Chris Barker is Director of Business Development at the Global Institute for Food Security (GIFS), driving opportunity for the agriculture and food ecosystem by advancing GIFS’ research and development initiatives and outcomes. Prior to joining GIFS, he was the Chief Scientific Officer for Genome Prairie, responsible for the organization’s strategic research and partnership agenda. In this role, Chris provided leadership and coordinated the development and management of Genome Prairie’s collaborative research initiatives. His earlier roles include leading project management activities with local start-up companies, BioSTAR and MetaMorphix, following his completion of an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology from the University of Saskatchewan in 1995.
